About the Artisan
The Art quilter
Imagine you’re rushing through your town, a bit harried, trying to get to your next thing and you notice this unassuming artist quietly creating. She has a cozy looking coffee bar with comfortable, inviting seats around her and a sign that says, “Have a cup on me.” A couple of people are lounging in the chairs, sipping their coffee, watching her work…some are even asking questions and learning a few techniques of this seemingly lost art. You really could use the caffeine and hey it’s free, so you stop in your hurry and fix a cup of coffee to go. The artist looks up and smiles brightly and you felt seen. You brace for the pitch or catch to that free cup of coffee, but it doesn’t come. She just looks back at her work and continues creating. And as you take a small sip of your free coffee— which is amazing by the way!— you glance at her work and the hurry around you fades away. You feel a presence and connection to a peace you haven’t felt in a long time. You take a deep breath, and the artist looks up, grins, and says, “It’s amazing how good a deep breath feels isn’t it? Enjoy your cup, feel free to stop by for a refill any time.”
Nature is my deep breath that reconnects me to God. I can hear and feel Him most when I’m in the middle of the mountains next to a stream. I get the same feeling when I’m creating. Both have always told me the same message, “Be Becky. You are fearfully and wonderfully made with a quiet, yet impactful, purpose.” My creative efforts are how I bring to others that deep-breath feeling and opportunity for connection to the something deeper they crave so they can keep going and live into their calling. My Art provides a space of Quiet to experience the Holy. It is welcoming and accessible to all without judgement or direction. It Demonstrates. It creates a Legacy of Impact not imposition. It gently and lovingly whispers, Be you.
I hope you enjoy your cup. Stop by for a refill anytime.

Impact Driven…
From an early age, I remember eagerly listening to the stories of those gathered around kitchen counters, old porch swings, glowing bon fires, and bustling workshops. As they sipped their steaming mugs of rich, strong coffee, I was captivated by the things they created with their hands as they spun their tales of days gone by. Not only did they patiently teach me their craft as I listened to their wisdom, but these homespun Artisans instilled in me the importance of preserving our heritage through environmental creativity and stewardship to secure the future of generations to come. They nurtured the courage and creative talents within me so that I could one day unapologetically step into my calling as an Artisan creating beautiful, heirloom-quality pieces. I am passionate about revitalizing the lost arts of environmental creativity and stewardship so that we can
Encourage, Empower, and Equip the next generation of Creatives as world changers.
Becky V. Rucki, owner of The Twisted Oak Quilts, is an Art Quilter and painter living in South Georgia with her husband and three children. Her quilts build a Legacy of Impact by preserving each client’s family memories, protecting the land, and helping pass on the lost art of quilt making. Her style reflects the solace and restorative reprieve of family escapes to mountain creek campsites through impressions of flowing landscapes, swirling, soft, earthy palettes, and subtle streaks of sunlight. Becky traces her artistic influence to the eras of Impressionism and Expressionism, as well as the Artisans of the lost arts and environmental creativity of her rural heritage.
When she’s not in the studio you can find her barefoot with the music blasting baking or creating with the kids, lost in a good book, nerding out on documentaries with the husband, and always dreaming of her next trip to the mountains.
As an heirloom Artisan, Becky seeks to Encourage, Empower, and Equip the next generation of Creatives as world changers.
Doing my part…
Although I’m no where near perfect, I am committed to replacing as many of my traditional materials with products and processes that are more eco-conscious, produced using sustainable techniques, and support other small or family-owned businesses. My main goal is to keep as many yards of fabric out of our landfills as I can so I can help protect the land and rivers I love so dearly. This involves using up what I’ve got and repurposing items into their second, third, and sometimes forth life! It is a continual process of vetting and testing these resources to ensure they are the best choice for my art, values, and business. Drop me an email with your favorite eco-conscious materials, processes, and small or family-owned business suggestions! I’ll be sharing all I discover over on the Inklings entries.
